This is a rapidly-written residue of human refuse due to having just emerged from the gargantuan task of playing Splendour every day - and thence taking the afterparty til dawn for the first time ever. There are many loose ends this week - and I'm one! Wednesday July the 24th ~ Swingin' at the Speakeasy will unfold in a slightly smaller setting than the sublime stage pictured above - lighting up Palmer and Co with music and movement from 7PM as Mary Heart seizes the stage. My one engagement in Sydney this week follows - a substantive five-hour set of timeless tuneage til close at around 3AM. Entry is always free. Saturday July the 27th ~ Jack Off will go to air without me again this week - as I'll be winging my way back up to Federal to play Laura's Wild West 40th. We're actually not exactly sure who will be hosting just yet as my venerable producer Isabel, who was to, is still battling to be wholly rid of the damn pneumonia that laid her up in hospital recently. We are all sending the healing powers her way! Whoever steps in to the studio will have their work cut out to match the entire program of space fare that Eddy aired last week (she hooked me from the outset by kicking off with Coil). Listen here. Before I bail on y'all for another week I'd like to thanks Jess, Sam, Matt and Jo for the enduring faith they show in entrusting the Gold Bar and afterparty to me at Splendour each year. I deeply missed my usual co-pilot Mario Speedwagon but Goldfoot did a sterling job in his stead (that's his shot of said afterparty in the Shack above). Of course Colonel Waylon P. Flawstain held it down for three nights strong prior - with the assistance of my cosmic company of cuzzins. It is very kind of those rabid hillbillies to tolerate a bushwhacked commuter from both sides of the tracks in their midst each year. Gotta also give a shout out to Blobby Ruck for the shots that top-and-tail this edition (not to mention the many more we can't show here). He's a champ who went above and beyond as others fell by the wayside - and the best mate a fella could ask for. Thanks for sticking with me throughout this outta-town interlude dear readers. (Ab)normal transmission will resume next week. You can always peruse all the events coming our way in future via the side-bar to the left but I rarely mention it - however I will say right now that, amongst the dearth of compelling community fare in Sydney at present, I am utterly stoked to be starting a free six-week all-night residency at the iconic Hollywood Hotel from next Saturday. Please try and keep some of that night free to get along for a beer and a boogie so that we can move towards the light and summer right! Comments are closed.
