Sunday October the 25th ~ After playing the final set before lockdown (on the afternoon it was announced) back in March, I've offered to play the Petersham Bowling Club for free - in order to get the ball rolling again. Regardless of stormy skies I will bathe those who brave the bitter weather in beauteous music. It means so much to me that we are free to do this. Shelter by the greens together between 3 and 6PM. Reject arrogance, expel apathy. Music to thine ears! Saturday October the 17th ~ Jack Off afloat on understanding and empathy, for the living and the dead, for those here and beyond. A way for us to commune kindly. 3 til 5PM. On air. Sunday October the 18th ~ An almost alien experience: my first gig in new digs since pre-pandemic. Right at home in the Inner-West. An ideal brief: to spin psychedelic sounds from outer-space on a Sunday afternoon. Small outlays will get you literally endless amounts of pizza to eat and jugs of pure booze to swig. Get thee to The Bank between 1 and 4PM. Have yr senses assailed by unimaginable frequencies and mind-bending moving images. Trip out together. Tuesday October the 20th ~ Test the ongoing utility of the smoking remnants of yr brain (after 48 hours recovering) via Julian Morrow's Totally F*ct Trivia - Hamilton edition. What could possibly go Saturday October the 10th ~ Jack Off rolls tape between 3 and 5 on FBi. Sunday October the 11th ~ Get astride that pony and ride - all the way UP to the Imperial Hotel's exquisite rooftop bar. At last we are aloft with all and sundry once more. I cannot begin to tell you how much I've missed playing here (and at the PBC, more on that next week). Please join me, soaking up the spring sun, as I spin a free five hour set from 2 til 7PM. Friday October the 2nd ~ Sunset on Friday sees me stabbing buttons in the front bar of The Paddington - in what will be my only gig there this month. 5 til 9PM. No charge. Saturday October the 3rd ~ The entire Jack Off team were blown away by the support we received from listeners during our annual supporter drive last week, some truly heartfelt tributes were exchanged. Such genuine appreciation is always a fuel for further work. This year it meant even more, considering how tough things are - and how much worse finances may yet get. Thank you for being so strong, courageous, communicative and sensitive. We will redouble our efforts, on behalf of the station and the community we serve, from 3 til 5PM this Saturday. Tuesday October the 6th ~ Totally F*ct Trivia is a comical portal into the morbid mortal truths that lie behind what we are routinely presented with by political 'leaders' and captive media these days. Julian Morrow is the ideal bullshit detector / host for such an enterprise - and Giant Dwarf the perfect venue to facilitate participation in this canny quiz. Capacity onsite has just doubled to 50% of the pre-COVID limit - and anyone who prefers to play from the comfort of home can do so. I provide thematic musical cues for every question by conjuring them up in real-time, a pretty hilarious challenge for me personally. Join us at 6.30PM and you'll see/hear what I mean! |
