Friendless war plus other foes of feeling and fun. Friday January the 27th ~ The Weary Traveller hosts Potion and Histamine live before doors open to all as I remedy apocalyptic faux-medical doom merchants via a tuneful testament to the capacity of human spirits to repeatedly overcome horror. 10PM til around 2AM in the CTA cellar. All welcome. No charge. Saturday January the 28th ~ Jack Off marches mechanically on, repairing holes and tears in the fabric of the universe, even as it rips all asunder yet again. 3 til 5 on FBi Radio. As The Weary Traveller wraps up its evocative innings downstairs at the Commercial Travellers Association I get to spin a final incendiary bracket, gratis, directly after Party Dozen set the joint aflame to end a strong summer Sydney Festival. Down tools and make haste to Martin Place for either or both. I'll immolate between 10 and midnight. Myriad methods of safely expanding apt inaction/s. Wednesday January the 18th ~ Me dancing during Swingin' at the Speakeasy. The Faculties are live with Pia betwixt sets from 7. I'm on the decks from 10 til around 2. Entry be gratis. Thursday January the 19th ~ Match weather forecasts to reality whilst listening to music at the Sydney Festival's new outdoor, family-friendly and free season of Seymour Nights in the courtyard of City Road's Seymour Centre. Hear the elements coalesce from 5.30 til 8.30. Saturday January the 21st ~ Jack Off obeys all orders and defers eternally to the great powers that be, as exemplified by our voluntary labour of decades sitting, especially between the hours of 3 and 5PM each Saturday. Following this ritual act of broadcast servitude we bow before the masses in person at the shrine that is the Bob Hawke Beer and Leisure Centre from half-past eight til eleven-thirty. No charge. Sunday January the 22nd ~ Seymour Nights wraps up with an afternoon affair featuring sonic flights of fancy from yours truly, taking wing at 4PM and running (idly) til 7. Free! Family, fables, frangipanis. Music to my ears. Wednesday January the 11th ~ Swingin' at the Speakeasy blooms in full colour as live music returns from 7 til 10 courtesy of Queenie and The Cavaliers plus special guest Sarah J Hyland. I deejay til around 2AM from 10. All is free. Friday January the 13th ~ Open Air Cinema also kicked off its season this week and I get to lay a sonic and emotional platform for the much-hyped (and somewhat divisive) Don't Worry Darling. If you pop along do come early to enjoy sumptuous harbourside sounds from 6 til 8.30PM. Saturday January the 14th ~ Jack Off had the honour of an in-depth exchange with Californian couple Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith and Sean Hellfristch (performing as Cool Maritime) last week. Listen back to that at leisure and tune in this week between 3 and 5 for more aquatic audio adventures. Afterwards I ascend again (for the first time since a particularly opulent and effusive NYE Sham DJs party set) to Dean and Nancy on 22. I got diverted to Maybe Sammy last week so am keen to reconnect with all atop the A by Adina from 9 til 12.30. Free! The more things stay the same, the more they change... Wednesday January the 4th ~ Free alley action at Palmer & Co from 10PM til 2AM. Friday January the 6th ~ Solid sonic leadership at the Bob Hawke Beer and Leisure Centre between half 8 and half 11. Gratis. Saturday January the 7th ~ Following her ethereal Call To The Morning dawn performance at Strickland House there is a chance that Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith will grace us with live music that arvo on FBi Radio. Tune in to Jack Off for two hours from 3 to hear whether another water-bound wonder will also manifest on the air. Once that program is done and dusted I'll be mirroring my NYE via a return to Dean and Nancy on 22, playing a far less manic 9PM til 12.30AM set of stylish sounds for the sophisticates that haunt high levels. There is no charge but booking is recommended and oft necessary, especially earlier. |
