A dawn mission from Sydney to inland up north, beyond Taree, in order to farewell a truly wonderful woman, followed by this trip through the bush, to crash at a mate's place an hour and a half away.

Naturally Waze tried to take me down a mountain, at sunset, via a forestry track that it turns out has been closed since 2010. It was essentially a bunch of rocks, creeks, foot deep gullies, fallen trees and landslips that left a few inches either side of the car before a drop into the void on the low side.

The road is apparently infamous and the subject of a longstanding campaign for restoration (it worked for all for a century prior to more recent disuse). I made it a few k's to this sign, then only 1 or 2 beyond, before multiple toppled trees irrevocably blocked me. Turned back to do the lot again!

There were zero signs indicating closure, 4WD only, or any peril whatsoever at the top. It's a miracle I made it out in one piece (ditto the brand new AWD I was driving). All today's photos were taken post-funeral in chronological order, the last after escaping back up onto normal dirt. Sheeeeeeeit!

Bye beautiful Dyaramak. Thanks for taking us all absolutely everywhere on the river. The roos and forest watched at sunset as our best (and last) boat ever readied to be trucked to Adelaide, to a new world of kids and water ways. We love you.

Bye old Sydney city, all junkie g(l)aze and brake dust. A sheen is placed on the surface. Hot Shit (myself and Liz) bear witness, beside the walls of recording residue at Jam Record Bar, from 6 til 9.

That's free, as are all of these things I share.

Bye govt and po-po piss-ants, always trying to minimise momentum and stop swathes of citizens from collectively expressing humanity and compassion.

Saturday August the 9th ~

Bye (again) perfect Pearl. Thank you for bestowing your miraculous natural realms whilst affording us shelter on the edge of this awesome and ever-changing elemental interface.

Whilst we wrangle boxes and men, Jack Off will proceed via Jonny Seymour (plus pup George Michael), featuring extra-special guest, Far-West farm-raised, emergency doctor and music artist, Gordi, talking true and performing live between 3 and 5.

Thanks for reading, looking, listening and feeling so acutely, dear friends. Catch you next week, on the other side of our latest minor migration xo
