Escaped audio emissions on slippery dates...

Tuesday June the 4th ~

Musical hairs: a full live line-up got rained-out of Vivid at Tumbalong Park on the weekend and has only been able to reassemble on the date I was scheduled to play there, next Monday, the 'King's Birthday'.

However I will still be spinning my intended 4 hour audio-visual extravaganza (in tandem with The Lost Futures, ex Vidiot) TONIGHT, due to a fellow selector (and friend) coming down with COVID.

Please join us there for some lush local manifestations of memory and meaning. Entry is free and all ages are welcome. We spark up from 6.

Wednesday June the 5th ~

After catching the world premiere of my old mate Paul Clarke's new doco on Midnight Oil, in the splendiferous State Theatre (where it opens this year's Sydney Film Festival), I'm (re)gathering in sub-street staple Palmer & Co, playing gratis murky music for the Tank Stream set, from 10 til around 2.

Friday June the 7th ~

By Friday I'll have collated a fresh crate of vinyl to carve up with my new cartridges at the Bob Hawke Beer and Leisure Centre. Hustle through the streaming streets and join me there for smoking Chinese meats or bitter brews, between 8.30 & 11.30.

Saturday June the 8th ~

Jack Off will transmit from a relatively calm studio this Saturday, rather a change from raucous and ridiculous rigmarole of Drunk Mums last week. Listen back to that fab fiasco, or choose a languid live immersion from 3 til 5 instead. The choice is yours.
Afterwards I'm excited to play the wedding of Izabela and Tobey in Alexandria. It has been a while since I've been enmeshed in a large loving ritual like this - and we've been planning the particulars from opposite sides of the Earth since last year.

Whatever you are up to, I hope you can stay cozy and dry across the week. Catch you this time next one x

New dawns in old places. Back to the sea at last.

Wednesday May the 29th ~

The first of these many free fiascos occurs this evening at Palmer & Co - a place almost as gnarly as the ancient Sydney Red Gum above. 10PM til 1.30AM.

Thursday May the 30th ~

After dreaming up the notion of a convivial community social situation for all generations, well ahead of my move back to the Central Coast, I was so honoured that Link & Pin were instantly enthused and immediately sought to enable Wink & Spin to begin!

Thursday night sees the long-anticipated opening of my multi-faceted musical tribute to this still somewhat culturally under-serviced yet naturally majestic realm. I hope to reflect all I love.

As ever, the venue, right across from Woy Woy Station, has booked great live music out in the beer garden (where you can hear Bad Witch, Pilot Guy and Visor Buffalo), whilst I will spin a wide swathe of sound for all and sundry within. 6 til 10. The last Thursday of every month. All gratis always!

Our Stern Flirtybird artwork comes from Shack fambly direct, Brooklyn's own Malcolm Smith. Cheers cuz!

Saturday June the 1st ~

Come Saturday I'm hearkening hard as Drunk Mums are set to play an intimate version of their incisive and anthemic antidote to noxious nationalism, The New Australia, live on Jack Off between 3 and 5PM.
Thence it's time for the nightly double of debonair deliriousness: Maybe Sammy from 6 til 9, before Dean and Nancy on 22 takes flight 'twixt 9 and half 12.

Glowing audio embers to warm the cockles of yr art.

Wednesday May the 22nd ~

Late, romantic, inter-special loving tonight at Palmer & Co, for free (as with all other engagements this week). Descend again. From 10 til around 1.30.

Friday May the 24th ~

Vivid Fire Kitchen cleaves off from Barrangaroo's Cutaway this year, lobbing up to The Goods Line in (substantially less cursed) Ultimo. I had a ball playing to food-lovers (and gangs of young street dancers) in swathes of smoke last time, so am stoked to be aboard again. Guest pitmaster tonight is John McFadden. Sonic sparks should fly between 6 and 11.

Saturday May the 25th ~

Jack Off celebrates the sacred advent of Xmas in May by setting FBi aflame for a few hours from 3.
Thence it's back to Vivid Fire Kitchen, this time under the stewardship of Christine Mansfield, to spin a spicy musical mix til an hour shy of 12.

Rubber rewards for those that stick it out and in.

Wednesday May the 15th ~

One fine day I'll have all of these boxes unpacked and time to swim in the sun. Til then it's free fare for all, first at Palmer & Co from 10PM til 1.30AM.

Saturday May the 18th ~

Jack Off goes out guestless between 3 and 5 this week, but if you'd like to hear last week's beautiful and illuminating appearance by Merryn Jeann you can catch up at yr leisure here.
Afterwards I've one final week of this insane trio of triptychs to somersault, first at Maybe Sammy from 6 til 9, then cartwheeling though to Dean and Nancy on 22 for 9 til 12.30AM. See you somewhere!

Anyone wanna buy our fancy boat? It's a proven way for folks to get along. Our ageless tinny hull and all accoutrements is also available - and going for a song. Make an offer for either. Would love to pass these beauties on to friends.

Wednesday May the 8th ~

Took a spell and drove almost as far north again during the most successful Gum Ball ever, in order to jump into the freezing waters of Ladies Well (above). God I needed that! Tonight I'll be back from another northern water world to play Palmer & Co for free from 11 til half 1.

Thursday May the 9th ~

Come Thursgay I'm celebrating my arrival back on the Coast with  a four-hour stint at the FunHaus Factory in Gosford, starting at 6, before being brilliantly interrupted by a sterling show from 6 Inch Minx, plus drag courtesy of Anita Drink and Luka Bahllz. The whole affair is hosted by Tim Dormer and there is zero charge to attend.

Friday May the 10th ~

It has been impossible to foresee, with my eyes all wonky: the penultimate Sham DJs (Liz Ham et moi) Sin City Soirée happens to be happening at the Hollywood this Friday from 8pm til 1am, before a finale in this form manifests on Friday August 9. Join us at our founding fountainhead as we go deep into the winter dark, surrounded by cozy community, music and movement. We are always free.

Saturday May the 11th ~

Prior to being put out to pasture for a few days I've an exceedingly busy Saturday: first sharing Subconscious Love Connections with Merryn Jeann live on FBi between 3 and 5 for Jack Off; then spinning freely for Maybe Sammy betwixt 6 and 9; before attaining audio enlightenment beyond the bovine at Dean and Nancy on 22 from 9 til 12.30.

Wednesday May the 1st ~

To open this apparently inevitable week of rain, which just happens to coincide with the necessity of transporting our lives off-river via countless cardboard boxes on boats, I'll spin an especially extreme set of vintage audio aquatica at Palmer & Co between 11pm and approximately 1am. All gigs free.

Friday May the 3rd ~

If the hat shits, tear it (off, promptly) - that's my advice. But you know, you do you! Listen to the band (on the record, in my hand) at the illustrious  Bob Hawke Beer and Leisure Centre, 8.30 til 11.30pm.

Saturday May the 4th ~

Jack Off goes guestless, so as to best serve sonic mayhem in the minutes between 3 and 5pm.

Directly afterwards the traditionally noble, sober and sane history of The Rocks will be flawlessly embodied during my 6 til 9pm set at Maybe Sammy.
Thereafter, witness proof that I am simultaneously of both the future and past, as I miraculously materialise a mile away, atop a skyscraper, in the space of a single second, ready to unleash a world of wild colour and melody, amongst the mirthful madness that is Dean and Nancy on 22. Hear the whole song and dance unfold, until 12.30 in the morn!

Startling sonics sprayed hither & thither forthwith!

Wednesday April the 24th ~

I'll be activating the bat-shit crazy late shift at Palmer & Co from 11pm (rather than 10) for the next fortnight, as we celebrate the opening of new nosherie Good Luck across the way, with live music returning for the three hours prior. All for free!

Thursday April the 25th ~

I'll also be rolling up to Dashville a day earlier than usual this year, for the specific purpose of bracketing The Gum Ball's ANZAC Day set by old mate Gareth Liddiard (who still holds the record for most appearances on my radio show, despite ceasing to do media on gig days about a decade ago). If you are heading north for the weekend make tracks in time if possible. It's a rare chance to hear this man's epic solo fare in full, lit by fire, under the stars.

Friday April the 26th ~

Thence it's back to routine gratituitous Gum Ball gallivanting: a three-way, three-hour Silent Disco shenanigan with Urby and Liz Ham alongside from 12.
Earlier, the evening will escalate exponentially: as RVG pass the baton to Tropical Fuckstorm; before ex Cramps, Bad Seeds and Gun Club member Kid Congo brings his Pink Monkey Birds band (this time featuring Mick Harvey on bass) to a midnight climax. I just can't get over the calibre of this line-up!

Saturday April the 27th ~

Hopefully we'll be able to reassemble ourselves into some semblance of solid shape in time to drive back to the big smoke, as there are some pretty sweet live prospects in the offing for Jack Off. We know that Asha Jeffries will appear to perform Brand New Bitch and there is a chance that even Beth Orton will grace us with her presence. Tune in between 3 and 5 to see what transpires on the day!

Afterwards I'm sure to be feeling like a little sophistication after all of these wild and woolly adventures in the bush, so I deeply appreciate that my final gig of the week will be at Dean and Nancy on 22 - where you too can sup on morsels and medicines whilst taking in the tunes. Entry is free. Find me there between 9 and half 12 if yr keen!

Shirty sonics shift mental blocks and rock socks.

Wednesday April the 17th ~

The first of an entire week of gratis gigs erupts at Palmer & Co between 10PM and 1.30AM tonight.

Friday April the 19th ~

Then a CBD double as the weekend begins: with vintage fare at Maybe Sammy for three hours from 6; before I melt all the other music of Earth into the mix at Dean and Nancy on 22, from 9PM til 12.30AM.

Saturday April the 20th ~

Lastly I will triple the missions: via a mysterious mosaic aired on Jack Off between 3 and 5; a more modern Maybe Sammy from 6 til 9; and a Sham DJs suite of sight and sound on vinyl at the Bob Hawke Beer and Leisure Centre, from half 8 til half 11.
