Following the recent death of Liz's gentle, talented, humble and lovely father David (whose artwork is above), we are thankful to be uniting for our finale at the Hollywood this week, then departing for a brief but long-planned holiday. The following opportunities to listen and move are free. Wednesday August the 7th ~ Timeless elegance at Palmer & Co (after the ACO/SDC Bach and Pärt), between 10 and approximately 1.30. Friday August the 9th ~ The final Sin City Soirée with Sham DJs (Liz Ham et moi) at the Hotel Hollywood, from 8 til way late. In the many years I've maintained some form of residency at this iconic pub, under multiple owners from founding matriarch Doris Goddard on, I've attempted to honour its unique blend of enduring egality, conviviality and community. I've spun to both packed debauched dancefloors and spare smatterings of lockdown and covid survivors. For the last few years I've had the perfect pleasure of playing together with Liz, the love of my life (and author of all Sin City artwork) too. These evenings galvanised a lot for us and our nearest and dearest - but since late last year it has proven difficult to maintain a monthly rhythm at the Hollywood due to various external changes at play. We tried our best to roll with it and stay true to the old girl but we wanna revive a regular pattern, maybe closer to home in the Inner West (to perhaps dance even closer to dawn). For now we just wanna go out from our signature Slurry stable with a sensory overload of sublime singularity one more time. Make a date to get down and dirty with us all night long - and take a licking before we kick on! Saturday August the 10th ~ After paying tribute to Martin Phillips of The Chills last week by reprising the beautifully humane and humorous chat we shared re matters mortal on Jack Off back in 2019 (listen to that conversation and his solo versions of Pink Frost and Deep Belief) this weekend will be see the restoration of real-time radio between 3 and 5, my final official duty before flying away wide-eyed into the clouds. Saturday August the 17th ~ Upon return I'm immediately back into the thick of it, hosting my old compadre Dan Kelly live on Jack Off mere hours after landing, before spinning out at Maybe Sammy from 6, then rejoining the jet-set at Dean and Nancy on 22 between 9 and 12.30. Dear friends, I cannot tell you how grateful I am to move freely and with good health amongst you. I'm acutely aware of how fortunate I am to lead a life overflowing with family, community, culture, nature and love. Thank you so much for indulging this weekly missive and indeed for forgiving me my frailties. I sincerely wish you all the best, always Comments are closed.
