The short version of our experience was that you were exceptional in all regards and provided a perfectly pitched soundtrack to our very special night. We cannot recommend you more highly or speak higher praise of our experience, from inquiry email to the wrap up of the night. The long version requires a little context.
Qian-Ao comes from a family of academics and public servants. I come from a family of tradies. We both grew up to be doctors. As a result our people, our loved ones, are a very diverse group of wonderful humans. She is a classically trained (and extremely modest) pianist with numerous qualifications including a degree from the Sydney Conservatorium. I can barely operate one of those primary school recorders (and that’s a generous assessment). We both grew up to be deeply passionate about music as an art form, culture, and means of expression. |
Your choice of tracks was impeccable. You read our people, you read the mood, you read our night. There was something for everyone. From very literal songs about desserts, to smooth ambience that blended seamlessly into the night, to eclectic pieces my wife and I had not encountered before, to certified classic wedding bangers for the dance floor. |
We have no strong feelings about the period, style, or genre of a piece. To us, music is art.
I’ve been an FBi listener since high school (almost 15 years now). She is a newer, but now equally avid, listener. We have had a shared love of your show since we first met. Since the pandemic began, tuning in became a weekly ritual. You provided a gorgeous soundscape, comforting sonic backdrop, and parasocial warmth to an otherwise very troubling time.
Naturally, we wanted you to soundtrack our most special of nights. Being avid listeners, who tune in with a blank cheque mentality, we handed you a musical blank cheque. Our brief was essentially: “we love your show and our sound is all music and our people are super diverse.” Super easy, right? “And it’s our wedding.” No pressure, right?
So, yeah, our brief was essentially the brief from hell. Our venue had a great speaker setup but a slightly vintage mixer and some minor hardware/software compatibility issues on the day meant relying on 3.5mm auxiliary cable that threatened to make weird noises if it was moved too much. And to top it off, our wedding just so happened to be on the day a low pressure system brought about 150mm of rain to a venue with a metal roof.
I suspect that all of this context has already put the short version in perspective.
Booking you was as easy as sending emails to a friend. Venue setup was a straightforward process of working through hardware and software compatibility to ultimately provide a smooth, balanced sound.
From our diverse people there was nothing but praise. From the bottom of our hearts there is nothing but gratitude
