FBI PROGRAM BRIEF : JACK OFF WITH JACK SHIT

FBI Mission

FBi 94.5FM is a music-based radio station focusing on the creativity, diversity and innovation of Sydney's music and arts communities.

We are committed to supporting Sydney's emerging music, art and culture. FBi plays at least 50 percent Australian music, with half of that being from Sydney artists.

FBI Audience

Broadcasting to the whole of Sydney, FBi 94.5FM is independent radio which credits its young audience with being intelligent and active. Our listeners are looking for a radio station which reflects their city, their identity and their lifestyle. They demand radio that is unique, intelligent, energetic and engaging.

FBI holds a youth licence with the primary demographic aged 18-25.

JACK OFF WITH JACK SHIT

/// Description:

Interreactive fiascophonics.

/// Program Mission:

To contrast styles of sound from all era’s

To play music across genres predominantly from the last 25 years in a thoughtful, thematic fashion, undercutting it with playful irreverence.

To create a one-off experience with each show through a no-repeat policy and an iron-clad rule that guests should always perform live (encouraging improvisation here also with songs never aired before, new instruments, readings etc).

To challenge the conventions of standard radio formats in presentation and content, with the aim of achieving an immersive experience – fewer mic breaks, little forward maintenance, less ID’s, and creative mixing of sources.

To provide thorough, non-city-centric listings of music/arts/culture with an emphasis on the inclusion of emerging subcultures.

To offer an alternate voice reporting on current events.

To achieve genuine and relaxed exchange in interviews with a focus on the personal rather than the PR, revealing the true nature of guests.

To entertain and inform listeners.

To surprise and engage.

/// Music Content:

Australian Quota: 50%

Sydney Quota: 25%

Live sets / performance: Maximum three per show.

New (last 12 months): 50%

Old (last 25 years): 50%

Two reference tracks per show can be older than the station’s 25 year music cut-off policy as appropriate in the context of the show.

Emphasising music that is generally not prioritised elsewhere on-air: extremely short or long songs, never ‘radio edits’, album tracks other than singles, live and home-made recordings, rough, lo-fi, minimal, intense.

/// Target Audience:

The program is aimed at FBi’s general audience and everyone beyond.

The show melds both mainstream and counter-cultural sounds - weaving all sources together with genuine respect and knowledge in a considered way.

/// Content

Music : talks ratio  80:20

Interviews: Usually 1 per show with a maximum of three.

Segments: Diary of Death and The Shit List.
